The benefits of a regular yoga practice stretches beyond the relaxation you feel on your mat or the length you feel muscles, and actively helps to promote an overall sense of well being.
Yoga improves and builds:
Working on sequences of postures which encourage the body to flo in and out of held postures (Asanas), often supporting your own body weight, helps to build stamina, strength and overall fitness. While Pranayama (breath practice) helps to increase lung capacity.

Asana practice encourages deep stretching, at a level to suit your body, it’s range and skeletal structure, increasing the range of motion in both the muscles and joints. Over time this brings greater flexibility to the hamstrings, hips, back and shoulders. Whilst simultaneously building strength which helps the body to support and maintain flexibility, preventing the build up off physical tension.
Great attention is given to balance, several key Asanas which are developed and repeated throughout the practice encourage the body to support it’s own weight. This form of weight bearing and body control increases overall muscle tone. A regular yoga practice helps to develop long, lean muscles. Toning and conditioning key areas such as the lower back, the tummy, arms and legs. Your Yoga Team instructor will work with you to develop a programme which targets your key areas.
- Stress reduction
Yoga encourages the mind to simply focus on the given moment and to release and let go of mental tension through a selection of breathing and relaxation techniques, and the attention required by the physical body to tune inwardly throughout the practice. Opening back bends lift and open the heart, encouraging your mood to also lift. And, as with any good exercise your Endorphins levels will rise leaving you will that feel good factor after class. Several of the postures taught also work to calm the nervous system with in turn helps to calm the mind, and aid clarity of thought.

Twisting postures work to cleanse and tone the body’s internal organs, encouraging gentle detoxification. The immune, digestive system, and thyroid are also gently simulated which enables the body to function at its optimum levels. Deep relaxation techiques are utilised to enable the body to restore and replenish from within.

Yoga teaches you to be present, and mostly just to be comfortable with yourself.
